Technology Divides.

I am here, not there. But, I know what each and every member of my family is doing over there.

All four brothers are online and I am chatting to one of them. 3 are upstairs in their rooms and the brother I am talking to is in the living room, being a spectator to a game of scrabble.

Who's playing scrabble? My parents. Yup, the 2 of them, engaged in a war of word making. By the way, they're halfway through their second game.

I would give anything to be there right now, though not in that game of scrabble, just watching it. Every morsel of flesh in me hates playing that game. Don't ask. I would rather be a sideline spectator, giving hints and spoiling the game Lol.

Technology divides. All of them should be in the living room, playing scrabble.

PS. I think my parents are cute.

Thanking Allah.

I am going to try and undo some damage that my previous posts have caused. F is saying that I have turned the girls against him.

After he explained the issue, I realised that I was actually at fault. He told me about what the Prophet had said and I admitted I was wrong. So all is good now.

I rush into things, typing without thinking, saying without reflecting and end up wanting to take back words I have spoken. I am going to try and slow myself down a little. This mouth needs to shut itself.

The other day, I was looking at my reflection and it reminded me of how someone had told me I was not at all pretty, because my eyes were small and my nose was not like hers. I was so upset back then that I forgot I can still see without my glasses, while she's as blind as a bat and what I lack in the nose department, I make up for it in the good complexion department (I kid). What I'm trying to say is, I want to stop letting myself be so easily affected by what others think of me. I want to stop feeling miserable when someone says I'm fat or short or asks me a stupid question like if I can still see when I laugh because my eyes scrunch up.

I want to be able to say Alhamdulillah because I have a head full of hair,a fully functional brain, 2 eyes, a nose, a mouth, fat cheeks, 2 hands, 10 fingers, 2 legs, 10 toes. In other words, I'm complete. I go through life without stopping and saying Alhamdulillah for the things that I have. I forget that all these things can disappear in an instant. I forget that I am probably better off than 75% of the population.

I am going to keep my hair in a hijab, use my brain well and not abuse the IQ that I have, see only halal things, cover my nose at the smell of a man's cologne, speak only of good things, lose the fats in the cheeks, use my hands to carry out meaningful tasks and walk in the path towards Jannah.

If you're reading this, stop and say Alhamdulillah NOW. (:

Reminding you, just in case you forget. I hope Baba Ali didnt copyright that.

He's disgusted with my past. He asked, I answered. Now I feel disgusted with myself too. I don't know where it was that I went wrong but how is it that when someone is disappointed with you, you feel disappointed with yourself?
People change. You should not judge new my by looking at old me.

If you can't get over it, you're not a real friend I guess. Or at least, that is what I am trying to convince myself to believe in.

Truly, it hurts when someone actually says that they are disgusted with you.

Hmm I guess only Allah (swt) will ever know how I am feeling right now.

Reverts

My brother and I have both (in these recent months) been in close contact with new reverts.

I don't have much to say about the revert that I am trying to help because it's a little complicated at the moment and I'll just let things progress slowly. But let me tell you about my brother's friend.

He was a sikh and so are his parents. He converted to christianity but it still didnt feel right. Finally, he found Islam, through 2 very good friends. Only 20, he has had to hide his conversion (both times) from his family.

Already, they are getting suspicious because he has stopped drinking alcohol and eating pork. He is looking at places where he can get his tattoo removed at a cheap price. My brother has found a mosque that actually provides subsidies for this very cause so InshaAllah, he will get to have that tattoo removed.

Every day at work, he will follow my brother home and pray during the lunch break. He does not want anyone to know of his conversion. Even my brother found out by chance ...he happened to see this boy praying at a masjid.

This boy is disgusted with the way the other muslim boys at work act, especially the fact that they don't pray. He also said that the boys are guilty of using religion to gain sympathy..ie. During Ramadhan they ask for less work load. On Fridays, they ask to be let off early for Jummah, but nope, theyre not really going for Jummah.

I can't imagine what it must be like for him. Only 20 and keeping his conversion to Islam a secret from everyone. I can't imagine what it must be like for ANY revert.

Make du'a for this new brother. He's a nice boy and let's hope that when he tells his parents, they will accept him with open minds, loving hearts and embracing arms.

Right now, what I'd like to be the most is...

someone else.

Hypothetically speaking of course.

So there's this guy and this girl. The girl really likes the guy and the guy really likes the girl (or at least, that's what the girl thinks).
The girl is really mad at the guy because he leaves whenever he wants to. The girl understands that the guy has other things to do but it seems like the guy has never heard of 'advanced notice'. The guy says he has to go and POOF, he's gone. So the girl's like left there, feeling utterly miserable.
Reverse the situation. When the girl wants to go, the guy says things like 'No, you're staying with me today' and the girl, being female and therefore has a heart as soft as a sponge, falls for this sweet talk and stays...just to be ditched by the guy a few hours later with his disappearing act.
The girl is dumb and the guy has her wrapped around his pinky.
This is just ONE of the few things that makes the girl really mad. I have told this girl many times to just leave but somehow, she can't. The girl is totally in love with this guy. We don't even know what the guy feels.
The girl's an open book.
The guy's a treasure chest, locked and buried.

Babe: Pig in the City

Yesterday, I read Google News and I read the words 'SWINE FLU'.

I don't know about you but everytime I see the word 'FLU', I imagine lots of sneezing, runny noses and yucky snot. So, when I heard about the Avian flu a couple of years back, it was a little hard to imagine those cute little birds sneezing.

But with pigs, its a little easier to imagine them like that, what with a snout and everything :D

Ok back to being serious...

What is the swine influenza?
The swine influenza is caused by orthomyxoviruses that are endemic to pigs. Swine flu infects humans every year, especially those who come into close contact with pigs. However, cases of person to person transmission (through coughing, sneezing, touching of contaminated items) have been documented. The swine flu in humans is most contagious during the first 5 days of the illness (in children, up to 10 days).

What are the symptoms?
Fever, vomitting, stiffness, disorientation, loss of consciousness, may be fatal (very similar to the normal influenza).

What does the Quran say about swines?
“He has forbidden you only the dead animals, and blood, and the flesh of swine…” [al-Baqarah 2:173]

“Forbidden to you (for food) are: Al-Maitah (the dead animals — cattle — beast not slaughtered), blood, the flesh of swine[al-Maa’idah 5:3]

“Say (O Muhammad): ‘I find not in that which has been revealed to me anything forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be Maitah (a dead animal) or blood poured forth (by slaughtering or the like), or the flesh of swine (pork); for that surely, is impure…”[al-An’aam 6:145]

There have been questions raised as to WHY Allah (SWT) has forbidden the consumption of the meat of the swine. Is it because it is unhealthy? Or is it because it is dirty? Spiritually dirty or physically dirty? Is it because it has no neck and therefore cannot be slaughtered in the Islamic way? Is it because the pig's digestive system works quickly and thus does not get rid of toxins that it eats effectively?

The Quran says:

“It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed into a plain error”
[al-Ahzaab 33:36]

“The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allah (His Words, the Qur’aan) and His Messenger, to judge between them, is that they say: ‘We hear and we obey.’ And such are the successful (who will live forever in Paradise)”

[al-Noor 24:51]

The Bible says:

Leviticus 11:7-8 "And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you."

"Of their flesh shall you not eat, nor touch their dead carcass." (Deut., 14:8)

"I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people who eat swine's flesh and broth of abominable things is in their vessels." (Isa., 65:2,3,4)

The next time someone asks me why I don't eat pork, I will not bother giving them reasons as to WHY Allah(swt) forbade the consumption of pork because just look, there are so many reasons right now as to why we shouldn't be eating pork. Some are scientifically proven and some have yet to be proven. However, one reason is more than sufficient and that reason is that Allah(swt) forbade it, and I will not doubt nor question for I am a believer.
